To be able to vote in the June 2009 Local Elections, your name must be entered on the register of electors. If you are not sure whether you are already registered, you can check the register: you can inspect the register during working hours at the offices of the registration authority and at public libraries, post offices and Garda stations. You can also check to see if you are registered by going online at www.checktheregister.ie and entering your details.

For the Local Elections, residents of any nationality are entitled to vote – you just need to be living here. For the European Elections, to vote you must be an Irish, British or other EU Citizen.

If you need to register to vote, you can contact me and I will send you out a registration form. I can also help you with any queries about eligibility or transferring your vote. Alternatively, the City Council can send you a form – their Franchise Section contact number is 220 5010 (email: customerservices@dublincity.ie ).

Please use your vote – it is your voice. By having your say you shape the future of this great city.
