Airport Luas link could be good news for Ashtown residents – Noone
Fine Gael Senator and Dublin West General Election Candidate Catherine Noone has said that she was encouraged to read today (Thursday) that Broombridge to the airport is emerging as the preferred option to be chosen under the North Dublin Transport Study.
“This is potentially good news for commuters in and around the Ashtown and Navan Road area, as it will see them have a close, frequent link with the airport and Swords, in addition to the City Centre.
“The two concerns I would have arising from this is the potential tunnelling under Glasnevin Cemetery, which would need to be handled with great sensitivity and care, given its status. Similarly, I would also be keen to see actual work, beyond consultation, begin before the end of this term of Government.
“People on the Northside of the city are also fed up of transport studies and consultation documents and papers. What they want to see are shovels in the ground, and real progress instead of illusory pipe dreams. There is no logistical reason why this project couldn’t be done in parallel to Luas Cross City in terms of construction, from what I can see.
“All told, I welcome this, and hope to see action on the matter soon.”
