Dublin Senator and Fine Gael candidate for Dublin West, Catherine Noone, has today (Tuesday) welcomed the announcement that a new primary school and a new secondary school are planned for Dublin West. Another three schools are set to get brand new premises, thanks to the Government funding.
“I am delighted to see this serious Government investment in Dublin West. In addition to two brand new schools, we will also see St Mochta’s Clonsilla and St Patrick’s Corduff get entirely new buildings.
“I’m very aware of the pressing need to provide more school places in Dublin West, in order to continue to meet the accommodation requirements of our growing school going population.
“It’s great to see us planning ahead, with funding also being made available for an additional new secondary school for the Castleknock and Carpenterstown area, and a new primary school for the Pelletstown/Ashtown area which will have sixteen classrooms in all. This is all designed to meet future demand in Dublin West.
“There is no question that Fine Gael has been committed to undoing the mistakes of the Fianna Fáil Government, when it comes to education. We have prioritised capital investment in education and are working to ensure the days of drafty prefab classrooms come to an end”.
