Heroics at Howth Harbour a Credit to Dublin Bay North

I have paid tribute to the first responders and locals who intervened to prevent a dangerous situation at Howth harbour from becoming deadly.

The actions of local man Mark Doyle, along with the response from emergency services prevented a tragedy from occurring in the harbour yesterday. The heroes were reacting to a car plunging into the water with an occupant inside.

Their actions underscore the importance that the emergency services play in our community by keeping us safe in dangerous situations. They also highlight the role that vigilant members of the public can play in our neighbourhoods.

It is reassuring to know that there are heroes around us who risk their own lives for our safety, too often in our society we overlook these individuals until something like this happens.

As a community it is important to show our support and gratitude to them.
