New National Childcare Scheme will mark major step forward

The new National Childcare Scheme will make a real difference for hard-pressed parents when it comes to the cost of childcare.

I have urged parents to apply for the National Childcare Scheme when it opens for applications later this month.

The new National Childcare Scheme will see major improvements to childcare in Ireland. This is something that has been needed for a significant period of time.

As announced by the Minister for Finance in Budget 2020, an increase of €54 million to support early learning and childcare will be delivered, with a portion of this money earmarked for the National Childcare Scheme.

The new scheme will see middle income families given the opportunity to apply for subsidies which they have previously been ineligible for.

This will make a huge difference for families across the country and improve the quality of childcare in Ireland.

By introducing this scheme, the burden on working families will be eased and most importantly, the cost of childcare will be reduced.

The scheme will also allow us to make future investment in our services for years to come.

It is important that parents know what is available to them and that they do not miss their chance to apply. Online applications will be open from October 29th, while postal applications will be accepted from January 2020.
