I was first elected to the Industrial and Commercial Panel of the 24th Seanad in April 2011, where I served as Fine Gael Seanad spokesperson on European Affairs. I was re-elected in 2016 as Deputy Leader of the Seanad and Seanad spokesperson on Children. I have been a consistently strong vocal advocate for children’s health and wellbeing.
I am originally from Mayo, from a family with a long association with Fine Gael. I am a solicitor with expertise in the area of commercial litigation. I speak fluent Italian having studied at the Università di Verona.
I am keenly interested in the Arts and believe it to be more important than ever as a sector in these financially turbulent times.
Tourism is also a sector on which we have relied heavily in the past during challenging financial times and I shall endeavour to promote tourism by promoting incentives and measures to strengthen the Irish Tourism Product.
Throughout my years of involvement with Fine Gael in Dublin South East, both in Local and General elections, I have gained tremendous experience and have made many good friends. I am delighted to have been elected to help you and please do not hesitate to contact me.
